Minutewomen currently third in conference

WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H.- Senior Eliza Hawkins continues on her successful season placing third at the Plymouth State University Carnival Slalom event with a combined time of 1:35.46. Sophomore Emily Shilletto had a great race, taking fifth with a total time of 1:36.34. Freshman Jamie Taloumis took seventh with a time of 1:36.52, and Sophomore Heidi Skinner placed 24th with a time of 1:42.09 to round out the top four finishers for the Minutewomen. Sophomore Lauren Levey just missed top four honors tying for 25th with Babson's Alexis Vest-Burton with a time of 1:42.15. After the Slalom event at the PSU Carnival, the Minutewomen were second in the ECSC conference standings.

Taloumis continues to show her dominance in the Giant Slalom event, placing second on her first run by one- one hundredths of a second, and overall, finishing fourth with a total time of 2:22.56. Shilletto took tenth with a time of 2:24.03, Hawkins placed 27th with a time of 2:26.61 and fellow freshman Abby Nolan skied well placing 30th with a time of 2:27.85 to take the final spot in the Minutewomen's top four. After this carnival, the UMass women's ski team is third in the conference.

The Minutewomen are back in action on February 2nd, competing in the Slalom event at the MIT Carnival at Henniker, N.H. On February 3rd, the Minutewomen will be at Lincoln, N.H. participating in the Giant Slalom event in conjunction with the MIT Carnival.

Women's Skiing Finishes Sixth In Giant Slalom At USCSA Nationals

    The UMass Women's Ski Team got underway at the USCSA Nationals on Wednesday, skiing to a sixth place finish in the Giant Slalom in Winter Park, Colo. Emily Shilletto (Toronto, Ont.) led the way for the Minutewomen, finishing 13th. The Women's Team will be back in action on Friday when they will compete in the Slalom.

    The UMass Women's Ski Team captured a trip to the USCSA Nationals next weekend after their fifth place finish in last weekend's ECSC Regionals. The Minutewomen placed three skiers in the top-15 during both days of the Regionals. The Men's team, the defending USCSA National Champions, will not be returning to the Nationals after their sixth place finish over the weekend. The Minutemen had a tough day in Saturday's Slalom, finishing in ninth place before recovering with a second place finish in the Giant Slalom.

    The UMass Ski team competed in the ECSC Regionals this past weekend in Waterville Valley, N.H. The women's team finished fifth overall, securing a spot in the USCSA Nationals in Winter Park, Colo. from March 3-7. The Men's team finished sixth overall after a disappointing ninth place finish in the Slalom before a second place finish in Sunday's Giant Slalom. UMass Skiing will be back in action this weekend when they will participate in the EISA Regionals at Sugarloff.
