WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - The UMass women's ski team took second place in both the slalom and carnival at the Plymouth State Carnival held at Waterville Valley held on Jan. 21 and 22. Eliza Hawkins finished second in the slalom with a time of 1:47.22. Lisbet Rauh placed seventh overall with a time of 1:52:01.

In the total team results, UMass compiled 219.74 to finish just behind carnival champion Boston College, which posted a 219.05.

The Minutewomen took home second place in the slalom with a 331.82, second only to Boston College which narrowly edged out UMass with a 331.10.

In the overall standings, UMass is in second place in the conference with seven points. Boston College leads the overall standings with four points. Brown is third with nine.

Other individual top finishers for UMass were: Shaleighne Collins (9th place/1:52.59), Caitlin Doughty (16th place/1:56.83), Erica Mains (23rd/1:59.43) and Amanda Lea (41st/2:22.31).

The Minutewomen placed three skiers in the top-15 during both days of the Regionals. The Men's team, the defending USCSA National Champions, will not be returning to the Nationals after their sixth place finish over the weekend. The Minutemen had a tough day in Saturday's Slalom, finishing in ninth place before recovering with a second place finish in the Giant Slalom.

    The UMass Ski team competed in the ECSC Regionals this past weekend in Waterville Valley, N.H. The women's team finished fifth overall, securing a spot in the USCSA Nationals in Winter Park, Colo. from March 3-7. The Men's team finished sixth overall after a disappointing ninth place finish in the Slalom before a second place finish in Sunday's Giant Slalom. UMass Skiing will be back in action this weekend when they will participate in the EISA Regionals at Sugarloff.
