Women's Rowing Takes Four Second Place Finishes At Head Of The Housatonic

Sheldon, Conn. - The UMass women's rowing team raced to four second place finishes at the Head of the Housatonic Regatta on Saturday in Shelton, Conn. The novice four, lightweight four, open eight and quad were the four boats that took silver at the regatta.
In the novice four, Community Rowing won with a time of 17:44.108, beating UMass' boat by a little over a minute. The Minutewomen took second with a time of 18:47.538. The UMass boat included rowers Chelsea Wakeham, Allie DeMatteo, Jen Dolan, Amy Nash, with coxswain Sam Schnoerr.
The open eight, Community Rowing's boat won again with a time of 16:48.142 and UMass' entry was second with a 17:12.375. The UMass boat included rowers Ali Donzanti, Sarah Potts, Chelsea Finnegan, Julie Markus, Stacey Susienka, Sam Smith, Amy Rayla, Jess Romain, and coxswain Molly Morgan.
Trinity College won the quad with an 18:14.077, edging UMass by 18 seconds. The Minutewomen were second with an 18:32.301. The UMass boat included rowers Sarah Albert, Amanda Mawn, Airlina Burrill, and Sam Smith.
Community Rowing's boat won the lightweight four (17:44.108). UMass had boats that crossed the line second (18:47.538) and third (20:20.483). The first UMass boat include Ali Donzanti, Julie Markus, Amy Rayla, Ellie Brazenall, with coxswain Molly Morgan. The second UMass boat included rowers Chelsea Finnegan, Sarah Potts, Stephanie Stark, Jess Romain, with coxswain Molly Boggle.
In the novice eight, UMass boats finished third and fourth. Yale won the race with a time of 16:05.048. UMass turned in times of 17:33.536 and 17:42.633. UMass' first entry featured rowers Liz Euiler, Ali DeMatteo, Dani Vollman, Kelsey Schachter, Chelsea Wakeham, Kelly Barrett, Jen Dolan, Amy Nash, and coxswain Sam Schnoerr. The second entry included rowers Jen Coyne, Stephanie Stark, Ellis Brewster, Liz Tran, Terri O'Brien, Meredith Kerney, Rachel Spielberg, Ellie Brazenall, and coxswain Molly Bogle.
Liz Euiler placed fifth in the lightweight single. Her 20:37.542 was about a minute and a half behind Fiona Augar of the New York Athletic Club, who won the race with a 19:14.923.
UMass finished sixth (18:05.800) in the collegiate four. Northeastern won the race with a 17:02.874. UMass' boat featured rowers Claire Champine, Jen Rivero, Stacey Susienka, Sam Smith, and coxswain Dana Pulda.
Yale won the collegiate eight with a time of 14:42.864. UMass was eighth with a 16:14.953. UMass' eight included rowers Airlina Burrill, Sarah Marsan, Anna Kenseth, Jen Rivero, Sarah Albert, Amanda Mawn, Dani Vollman, Erin Kelly and coxswain Dana Pulda.
