Simon Continues Work With U.S. Junior National Program

PRINCETON, N.J. - University of Massachusetts rowing associate head coach Laura Simon will continue working with USRowing as the U.S. Junior National Team Head Coach for High Performance Camp and CanAmMex Team, as announced by USRowing on Tuesday. Simon will coach the teams at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China, from Aug. 16-28.

More than 3,800 athletes are slated to participate in 28 sports at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, designed as a sporting event for young people, balancing sport, education and culture. These Games work as a catalyst in these fields throughout the Olympic Movement.

Simon recently wrapped up her 10th season on the coaching staff at the University of Massachusetts and second as the associate head coach. She previously competed for the Minutewomen from 1995-98.

In addition to her coaching duties at UMass, Simon is also a Coxswain Education Coordinator for The Foundation for Rowing Education and the United States Junior Team's Coxswain Coach. Simon coached the U.S. Junior High Performance Team the summer of 2009 prior to being named the United States Junior Team's Coxswain Coach starting in 2010.
