UMass Rowing Heads To Philly To Compete In Dad Vail Regatta

Philadelphia, Pa. - The UMass women's rowing team will head to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete in one of the oldest and most prestigious regattas in the country. The Dad Vail, named after crew Coach Harry Emerson "Dad" Vail from the University of Wisconsin, will be held on the Schuylkill River Friday and Saturday. After winning three medals in last weekend's ECAC Championships, UMass looks to finish the season strong. Last year, the Minutewomen finished third with 17 points, behind Ohio State and Purdue. The Minutewomen will be entering five boats in the competition--Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Novice Eight, Varsity Four, and the Novice Four. Rrowers Andrea Morand, Sarah Marsan, Airlina Burrill, Ali DiMatteo, Rachael Nealer, Kelly Barrett, Erin Kelly, Terri O'Brien and coxswain Dana Pulda will race in the Varsity Eight boat for UMass. UMass' Second Varisty Eight will include rowers Liz Euiler, Julie Markus, Sam Smith, Haley Fitzgerald, Dani Vollman, Amanda Mawn, Claire Champine, Kelsey Schachter and coxswain Molly Morgan. UMass' Novice Eight will include Megan Donovan, Emily Hagan, Ellis Brewster, Jen Coyne, Rachel Spielberg, Meredith Kearney, Chelsea Wakeham, Ellie Brazenall and coxswain Carley Payne.
In the Varsity Four boat will be rowers Chelsea Finnigan, Amy Nash, Karen Plevock, Lindsay Dawson and coxswain Sam Schnoerr. Rowers Liz Tran, Steph Stark, Jen Dolan, Ana Tocco and coxswain Molly Bogle will head up the Novice Four boat. |
