MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The UMass rowing team raced on the Connecticut River this Sunday, October 16 at the Head of the Connecticut. Only two UMass boats got the chance to race due to weather, but each met success this weekend.

The Novices showed their abilities again this week, coming in first in a field of four, consisting of boats from Trinity College, Wesleyan College, and Atlantic 10 rival Fordham. The UMass team, lead by coxswain Isabel Feldman, came in first place with a time of 18:49.73, a full eight seconds ahead of the Fordham boat.

Coming in second place was the UMass pair boat with Junior Kaitlyn MacKenzie and Senior Katelyn Allocco. They finished with a time of 10:22:06.15, just 0.12 seconds behind the winning boat.

The Annual Pumpkin Head Regatta, a race for all walk-on Novices, was set to go off on Sunday as well but had to be cancelled due to weather.

The Minutewomen will race again next Saturday and Sunday, October 22 and 23 at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Mass.
