Three First Place Finishes For The Minutewomen At Seven Sisters Sculling Regatta

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The UMass rowing team hosted their first home meet of the season, the Seven Sisters Sculling Regatta on Saturday. The regatta consisted of two waves of races, one at 11 a.m. and one at 1:30 p.m., each time consisting of 4X, the 2X and the 1X races. Of the six possible victories, UMass took three, all in the 2X and the 1X competition
The dynamic duo Kendall Bennett and Michaela Streitfield continued their successes, taking first place in the double with a time of 17:31.1. Streitfield also took a first place finish in the 1X with a time of 17:35.3. Bennett finished just behind her in singles competition with a time of 17:56.9.
UMass took the first five spots in the 1:30 p.m. double races. Rachel Boudreau and Taryn Wilson took second place (after Bennett/Streitfield) with a time of 17:43.6. Novice Kayla Kleczka and Claudia Caballero Larco took third, Adrienne Breef-Pilz and Corinne Kazmierczak took fourth and Angela Stigliano and Gabrielle Hayward took fifth.
The Minutewomen also took the first five spots in the 11 a.m. single event. Caballero Larco took third after Streitfield and Bennett, Stigliano took fourth, and Kazmierczak took fifth.
Novice rower Krysten Menks won the 1:30 p.m. single event with a time of 19:47.5. Marika Kopp took third in the same event with a time of 20:29.4 and Nicole Juul-Hindsgaul took fifth.
The novice rowers will head back to the Connecticut on Sunday for the annual Pumpkin Head Regatta.
