Women's Rowing Shows Well In Connecticut

Amherst, Mass. - The UMass women's rowing team competed in their second fall regatta of the year at the Head of the Connecticut in Middletown, Conn. The highlights included the UMass "A" boat finishing third in the Championship Four and sophomore Hannah Brewster (Centerville, Mass.) taking second in the collegiate single. The UMass "A" boat included rowers Faith Harkins (Marion,Mass.), Ellen Maskrey (Pittsburgh, Penn.), Naomi Rudov (Framingham, Mass.), Catherine Gariepy (Lorraine, Quebec), and coxwain Kristina Ferraro (Columbus, Ohio).
UMass' "B" boat was 13th in the Championship Four. The "B" included rowers Jaime Dicke (Huntington, N.Y.), Tara Guinan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), Kristen Boyce (Andover, Mass.), Farrell Klein (Brookline, Mass.) and coxswain Mary Horan (Brookline, Mass.). The Riverside Boat Club won the event.
In other races, UMass was third in the novice eight, seventh in the intermediate eight, fourth and sixth in the lightweight fours, and second in the championship quad. A complete list of rowers in each boat is listed below.

Intermediate Eight: Kate Grogan, Ellen Maskrey, Naomi Rudov, Katie Berger, Jamie Dicke, Allie Bahn, Kristen Boyce, Tara Guinan, and coxswain Kristina Ferraro.
Lighweight Four: "A" Boat: Jackie Tuell, Tracey Altamura, Maria Arcari, Melissa Kelly, and coxswain Mary Horan. "B" Boat: Jenny Long, Abby Lively, Kirsten Mangan, Heather Harrington, and coxswain Dana Pulda.
