Rowing Takes Two Second Place Finishes At Head Of The Housatonic

SHELTON, Conn. - The UMass rowing team finished competition at the Head of the Housatonic on Saturday. It was the first regatta of the season that the whole team competed in. The Minutewomen entered 17 boats into the race, including two Novice boats.
The Novice 8+ took second place with a time of 16:36.90. This was the first collegiate race for the rookie rowers. The Novice 4+ took fourth with a time of 23:24.32.
In the doubles competition, UMass entered three boats which took third, fourth and sixth place. The fastest Minutewoman boat finished with a time of 18:55.73.
UMass entered three boats into the varsity four, the fastest taking second place with a time of 18:19.57. The other two finished in fourth and sixth place.
The single scull boats took fourth, fifth, and sixth place with the fastest time being 20:01.56.
The Minutewomen entered three boats into the varsity eight competition and finished in 13th, 17th, and 19th, place. The fastest boat finished with a time of 16:57.40.
