Oklahoma City, Okla. - The UMass rowing team finished up competition at the Head of the Oklahoma in the final races on Saturday night and Sunday morning. The Minutewomen competed in 500 meter night sprints on Saturday in the 1X and 2X after their qualifying races earlier in the day. On Sunday the team took on the quad competition and the collegiate 1X.

Michaela Streitfield won the Petite Final in the single race with a time of 1:22.0 on Saturday night. Kendall Bennett took sixth place in the race with a time of 1:32.0.

Bennett finished in first place in the collegiate single race with a time of 18:20.083. Just behind her was Streitfield who took third with a time of 18:25.842. Lauren St. Pierre came in fifth place out of the 19 competitors with a time of 18:53.853 and Angela Stigliano finished in seventh with a time of 18:54.959.

The Minutewomen took first place in the quad with a time of 15:44.210 in a close race with the boat from Oklahoma City University, which finished less than five seconds later.

Stigliano and Streitfield took fifth in the Grand Final of the double with a time of 1:45.8 and St. Pierre and Bennett came in sixth just five seconds after.

UMass will be back in action next Saturday, October 6 at the Head of the Housatonic where the Varsity 8+ will have its 2012-13 season debut.
