Rowing Takes Third At Atlantic 10 Championship

Pennsauken, N.J. - The UMass rowing team competed in the Atlantic 10 Championship Regatta this Saturday, May 5. The Minutewomen finished in third place in a tie with Temple, both teams scoring 37 points on the day. Rhode Island took first place at the regatta with their first place win in the Varsity Eight and Junior Varsity Eight Finals and their second place finish in the Varsity Four finals.
The Varsity 4+ took first in a tight race in the finals with a time of 8:10.89, just seven seconds ahead of the Rhode Island boat and just 37 seconds ahead of Dayton, the last place boat. The boat consisted of Heather Pekarovich (coxswain), Arielle Gillette, Hannah Monahan, Emily Sgarlat, and Adrienne Breef-Pilz, a lineup that has brought home five first place finishes and one second place finish so far this season.
The second Varsity 8+ fell just short of a victory, missing the win in the finals by two seconds. They crossed the line with a time of 7:12.57 behind the first place Rhode Island Boat. The lineup for the boat was Rachel Boudreau, Katelynn Allocco, Candice Miller, Amanda Doolin, Kyla Miller, Megan Rodgers, Nicoline Lomas, Beth Paret, and Isabel Feldman as the coxswain.
The Varsity 8+ finished in last place in the finals, finishing just 27 seconds behind the first place boat with a time of 7:27.75. Madolyn Chiu made her season debut as the coxswain for the Varsity Eight, previously racing in the Junior Varsity Eight. The rest of the lineup consisted of Kaitlyn MacKenzie, Michaela Streitfield, Marika Kopp, Kendall Bennett, Gabrielle Hayward, Stephanie Brockert, Emily Boucher, and Andrea Stigliano.
