CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The UMass rowing team competed at the Knecht Cup on Saturday and Sunday and earned three first place and three second place finishes. The Minutewomen made several changes in their lineups for the finals races due to illnesses but were able to perform well on Sunday.

UMass entered three boats into the pair competition and took first, second and third in the final. Kendall Bennett and Michaela Streitfield rowed the winning boat, crossing the finish line with a time of 8:17.80.

Rachel Boudreau won the singles competition, finishing five seconds ahead of the second place boat, which was rowed by Claudia Caballero-Larco. The UMass quad also earned a victory on Sunday, finishing with a time of 7:36.80.

The Varsity 4+ finished in third place in the Petite Final with a time of 8:06.50. They finished in first place in their preliminary heat and missed qualifying for the Grand Final by just 0.02 seconds in the semi-final heat.

The Novice 8+ took sixth place in the Petite Final with a time of 7:50.95 after finishing in second in its preliminary heat and fourth in the semi-final race. The second Novice 8+ finished in second place in its one race of the regatta, finishing just one second behind the boat from Alabama.

Hannah Monahan raced in the Junior Varsity 8+ boat that took sixth in the Grand Final with a time of 7:02.27 and then raced in the Varsity 8+ to take the place of Caballero-Larco, who could not race due to illness. The V8 finished in sixth place in the third final after a fifth place finish in the semi-final round.

The Minutewomen race again on Wednesday at their home course on the Connecticut River against UConn at 8:30 a.m.
