Rowing Earns Three First Place Finishes At Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - The UMass rowing team completed competition on Sunday at the Knecht Cup and captured three golds. The Minutewomen finished first in the Varsity 8+,Varsity 4+ and Varsity Pair events.
The Varsity 8+ boat consisting of Heather Pekarovich, Taryn Wilson, Emily Mann, Marika Kopp, Pippa Edwards, Candace Miller, Sam Kolovson, Lauren St. Pierre and Allanah Rubi-Mooney led UMass to victory in the Grand Final with a time of 6:47.65. The squad finished two seconds ahead of second place Bucknell and continued its undefeated spring campaign.
The Varsity Pair of Candace Miller and Pippa Edwards rowed in the first Minutewomen boat and finished first in a time of 8:19.47. In addition, the Varsity 4+ entry of Abigail Raichek, Rachel Boudreau, Gabrielle Hayward, Kyla Miller and Sam Wonderlin followed with a gold of their own in a time of 7:44.09. The top four finishers in this race were all within two and a half seconds of another.
The Minutewomen will compete against Connecticut next Friday in Coventry, Conn. and then will travel to Boston on Saturday to row against Bates and M.I.T.
