Wendy Wilbur is in her second season as an assistant coach at her alma mater. Wilbur graduated with bachelor degrees in both Communication and Sociology in 1995 and also received her Master's degree in Labor Studies in 1997. During that time, Wilbur served as a graduate assistant for the women's crew team for a semester.

Wilbur has the distinction of being one of the top rowers ever to come out of UMass. She was a member of the first varsity program that won the 1995 Champion International Regatta. She served as a team captain for the 1996 season and was a member of the 1997 NCAA silver medal varsity eight.

After graduation, Wilbur joined the U.S. National Team, where she rowed in the women's 8+ in 1997 and 1998, picking up the world championship silver medal the second year. She added a bronze medal to her collection in the 1999 women's four. She was one of the finalists for the 2000 U.S. Olympic team. She returned however to the World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, in early August placing fifth in the 4-.

In 1999, she won the gold medal at the Head of the Charles in the women's double event and returned for a second-place finish in the coxed four in 2000.

Wilbur is a seven-time gold medalist at the U.S. National Championships and a four-time gold medalist at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta.
