The Minutewomen practiced on Lake Beresford in Deland, Florida, from Jan. 11-18
This will be the last race of the fall season for the varsity members of the rowing team.
Andrea is in her sixth season on the University of Massachusetts coaching staff and her fourth campaign in the assistant coaching role during 2014-15. It also marks her first year serving as the recruitment coordinator for the Minutewomen.
During her third year working full-time with the program, Morand assisted long-time head coach Jim Dietz and associate head coach Laura Simon in leading the Minutewomen to an appearance in the 2014 NCAA Championships. The successful spring season also featured an Atlantic 10 Championship as well as a first place finish at the 2014 Knecht Cup. During the campaign, Morand's walk-on Novice 8+ finished second at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta as the Maroon and White won the women's team title at the nationally recognized event.
In the 2011 season, Andrea was hired as a full-time assistant coach. Prior to this she served as the graduate assistant coach for two seasons while she obtained a master's degree in kinesiology. As the graduate assistant coach, Andrea served as the walk-on novice coach, where she taught rowing basics to student-athletes new to the sport. Simultaneously, Morand served a stint as a Amherst College rowing coach when she guided the men's and women's club team on the Connecticut River.
Andrea rowed for the University of Massachusetts from 2005-09 as a member of the Varsity Eight, helping the Minutewomen win three Atlantic 10 Championships during her tenure.
