Acacia Walker, Team USA Win 2009 FIL Lacrosse World Cup Gold Medal UMass associate head coach Acacia Walker helped Team USA to its first Gold Medal since 2001 at the FIL Lacrosse World Cup with an 8-7 win over Australia in the Championship Match. Also representing UMass at the World Cup was alum Jackie Rosenzweig and rising senior Merritt Cosgrove who helped first-year Team Ireland to a fifth place finish in the final standings. (more)
After two days at the 2009 FIL Women's World Cup in Prague, both Team USA and Team Ireland are off to undefeated 2-0 starts. On Thursday, Team USA defeated England 17-8, while Team Ireland crushed South Korea 22-0. Friday's games saw USA down Canada 11-4, while the Irish claimed a 23-13 win over the Netherlands. (more)
UMass sophomore Jackie Lyons and freshman Riley Perry have been selected to the second-round tryouts for the 2009-10 U.S. Women's Lacrosse Developmental Team. The tryouts will resume on Aug. 1-2 at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. The duo were part of 150 players who tried out at the Stars & Stripes Tournament over Memorial Day Weekend. (more)
UMass women's lacrosse seniors Holly Drown and Meghan Reddy have earned spots in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association/Under Armour North-South Senior All-Star Game. The game will be held at United Sports Training Center in Downington, Pa., on Saturday, June 13 at 2 p.m.

Northwestern's Katrina Dowd led all players with seven goals as the #1 ranked and top-seeded Wildcats defeated the UMass women's lacrosse team 23-6 on Sunday afternoon at Lakeside Field. UMass freshman goalie Katie Florence made 15 saves in the loss, while Meghan Reddy notched two goals.

The UMass women's lacrosse team will face No. 1 and top-seeded Northwestern in the NCAA Tournament First Round on Sunday, May 10. The opening draw is slated for 2 PM EST (1 PM CST). This will be the second meeting this season between the Atlantic 10 Champion Minutewomen (11-7) and the American Lacrosse Conference Champion Wildcats (19-0). Tickets for the game at Lakeside Field will be $8 for adults and $5 for students. Live video streaming and live statistics will also be available.
