Women's Lacrosse Adds Eight Freshman To 2010 Team

UMass women's lacrosse head coach Alexis Venechanos announced that eight freshman will join the Minutewomen squad this season. The class of 2013 comprises four attacks, two midfielders, one defenseman and one goalkeeper. UMass Teams To Participate In Friends of Jaclyn Race October 4

Several UMass teams will be participating in the Second Annual Friends of Jaclyn Walk/Race on October 4 at Amherst College. UMass Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Field Hockey, and Women's Basketball will all be taking part in the event. The UMass Softball has recently gotten involved in the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation. UMass Women's Lacrosse Announces Fall Ball Schedule

The UMass women's lacrosse team announced its 2009 fall ball schedule on Thursday. The Minutewomen will participate in six events culminating in the 2009 UMass Alumni Game on October 31 at Garber Field. Massachusetts finished last season with an 11-8 record, highlighted by an Atlantic 10 championship and a NCAA Tournament berth for the first time since 1984. MORE

Amanda Belichick Named Lacrosse Assistant Coach

Amanda Belichick has been named an assistant coach for the University of Massachusetts women's lacrosse team as announced by head coach Alexis Venechanos. Belichick will primarily work with UMass' midfielders and be responsible for daily operations, scouting, and recruiting. She joins UMass after coaching lacrosse, soccer and ice hockey at Choate Rosemary Hall for the past two years. MORE

Lyons Named To U.S. Developmental Lacrosse Team

UMass rising junior Jackie Lyons was named to the 2009-10 U.S. Women's Lacrosse Developmental Team after a successful second-round tryout performance this past weekend. The tryouts were held at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County where 24 players were selected for the roster from a pool of 64. MORE

Three UMass Players Named Jewish Lacrosse All-Americans

Three UMass lacrosse players were named Jewish Sports All-Americans by the Jewish Sports Review. Men's players Evan Blum and Doc Schneider earned spots on the first team. Women's defender Jackie Rosenzweig was named to her first team as well. Both Schneider and Rosenzweig were named to the first team for the second year in a row. MORE
