AMHERST, Mass. - Several new faces dot the UMass women's lacrosse schedule as the Minutewomen look to build of a historic 2013 campaign. The Minutewomen are looking to win their sixth consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship title and make a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight year.

Fourth year head coach Angela McMahon has guided the Minutewomen to a 54-8 overall record in the previous three years which includes a streak of 21 consecutive wins in Atlantic 10 action.

The 2014 season will be a challenging one with a highly competitive non-conference slate to prepare UMass for the Atlantic 10 season and another NCAA Tournament berth.

Several of the highlights include the season-opener at Vanderbilt (Feb. 9) followed by a trip to Connecticut (Feb. 15). Home games at McGuirk Stadium include Colorado (March 14), Southern California (March 22), and a night game against Northwestern (March 25).

The Atlantic 10 schedule will open with a weekend pair of games against La Salle (April 4) and Saint Joseph's (April 6).

The Minutewomen will also host Atlantic 10 newcomer George Mason on April 13.

The Atlantic 10 Tournament will be hosted by Richmond on May 2 through May 4 at Robins Stadium in Richmond, Va.

Last season, UMass posted an 18-3 overall record and its third straight 7-0 mark in Atlantic 10 play. After defeating Duquesne to win the A-10 Championship, UMass defeated No. 18 Connecticut in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to No. 7 Penn State in the second round.

The Minutewomen are led by All-Americans Katie Ferris on attack who is UMass' all-time leading scorer and defender Kelsey McGovern who is one of the top defensive players in the country.

Three of UMass' top five scorers return from a season ago and the Minutewomen have 10 of 12 starters back in the line-up for 2013.
