Women's Lacrosse Announces Fall Schedule

AMHERST, Mass. - This fall the 2012 A-10 Champion UMass women's lacrosse team will compete in five tournaments in preparation for their 2013 campaign. The Minutewomen will open the fall season hosting the University of New Hampshire, UConn, and Stony Brook in the Fall Classic on September 22 at McGuirk Stadium. The Alumni game will be held following the Fall Classic on September 28 at 7 PM at McGuirk Stadium.

The UMass women's lacrosse team finished the 2012 season with a 19-2 record and a perfect record in the A-10 and a perfect record in home matches. Their record ultimately led to their fourth consecutive A-10 Championship and an automatic birth into the NCAA Tournament.

UMass graduated two of their top three goal scorers from last year but will be returning Katie Ferris who had a season to remember in 2012. Ferris was the lead UMass in points (98), goals (59), assists (39), game winning goals (5), shots (119) and shots on goal (89). The junior out of Carthage, N.Y. received an array of awards last season including A-10 Lacrosse Player of the Year, WomensLax.com All-American and IWLCA All-America Third Team honors. Seniors Lauren Terracciano and Cori Murray alongside junior Sam Rush will be looked upon to carry the offensive load alongside Katie Ferris.



UMass Women's Lacrosse will also be holding the Westside 6v6 High School and Youth Tournament on October 7 at the Lower Boyden Fields at UMass. The Tournament costs $525 per team and $55 per individual and includes six, 20-minute games and a half-hour long stick work clinic. The event will have four divisions and will run from 8 AM to 6 PM. You can sign up to a maximum of 12 players and need minimum of eight players to compete.
