Kathleen Typadis Earns A-10, UMass/Dinn Bros. Weekly Awards

AMHERST, Mass. - Kathleen Typadis has been named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week and the UMass Athletics/Dinn Bros. Athlete of the Week after guiding the women's lacrosse team to a pair of conference wins and qualifying the Minutewomen for the A-10 Conference Tournament.
Typadis scored two goals, including the overtime game-winner against Duquesne, and three at George Washington. She has now scored in 23 consecutive games and is on pace to finish her career as the second leading scorer in UMass history.
This is the second Atlantic 10 Player of the Week award for the Medfield, Mass., native who now has 77 career goals in 34 consecutive games. She is just 11 goals shy of the UMass career scoring top-10 list.
It is also her first time honored as the UMass Athlete of the Week. As a freshman, she was honored as a two-time A-10 Rookie of the Week.
Typadis will be honored this Wednesday, May 3 at the UMass Sports Luncheon which will be held in the Cape Cod Room located in the Student Union starting at Noon. Guest speakers include head softball coach Elaine Sortino, head football coach Don Brown, and Director of Athletics John McCutcheon. The women's lacrosse team will face top-seeded Richmond on Friday, May 5 at 1 p.m., in Washington, D.C. This is the third time in four seasons under head coach Carrie Bolduc that the Minutewomen have qualified for the four-team league tournament. The winner of the conference tournament will receive an automatic bid to the 2006 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament.
