Jamie Schiloski Named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week
April 23, 2013
AmHERST, Mass. - Sophomore goalie Jamie Schiloski was honored as the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week with her excellent play between the pipes against St. Bonaventure and Duquesne for UMass women's lacrosse. She helped the Minutewomen put up decisive wins over the weekend, extending the team's winning streak to an outstanding 12 games.
Schiloski played the full first half in the game at St. Bonaventure on Friday, allowing just a singular goal to go along with her four saves. The Minutewomen went on to win the game by a score of 19-2, crediting Schiloski with the win in net.
The native of Framingham also played the entirety of the final conference game against Duquesne on Sunday. With the top spot in the conference on the line, she put forth an outstanding game, allowing six goals on 16 shots faced. This was the second lowest point total that the Duquense Dukes had been held to all season.
Overall, Schiloski was 2-0 on the weekend. She had 10 saves and gave up seven goals, good for a .588 save percentage. She played 90 quality minutes for the Minutewomen at goalkeep, and it would have been very difficult for UMass to take both of its games without her.
UMass will begin the Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament on Friday, Apr. 26. The Minutewomen will begin the tournament against George Washington, and if they win, they'll advance to the title game on Sunday.
