AMHERST, Mass. - After helping the No. 11 UMass women's lacrosse team to a pair of wins against La Salle and Saint Joseph's to open its Atlantic 10 schedule, freshman Hannah Murphy (Duxbury, Mass.) has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.

This marks the first Atlantic 10 honor for Murphy who has played in 12 games as one of the Minutewomen's top reserves and has three goals and an assist on the year along with 18 draw controls - the third most on the team.

In the opening weekend of Atlantic 10 play, Murphy scored two goals, recorded one assist, and posted five groundballs, two draw controls and caused three turnovers.

In the win over La Salle, she had a goal, an assist, three groundballs and one caused turnover. In the win over Saint Joseph's, she had a goal, two groundballs, two draw controls, and two caused turnovers.

This marks the first Atlantic 10 weekly honor of her career. It also marks the fourth time this season a UMass player has earned a weekly honor from the league.

UMass enters the week with an 11-1 overall record and a 2-0 mark in league play. The Minutewomen moved up to No. 10 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll, while remaining at No. 11 in the Brine Media Poll. This weekend, UMass heads to George Washington on Friday before returning home to host Atlantic 10 newcomer George Mason on Sunday at McGuirk Stadium. Admission is free to all.

The two wins last weekend extended UMass' regular-season conference win streak to 23 consecutive games which pushed the Minutewomen past Dartmouth for the fifth-longest such streak in NCAA history. Additionally, UMass has now won 31 consecutive games against Atlantic 10 rivals (includes A-10 tournament games). The Minutewomen need two more Atlantic 10 wins for the all-time conference record which is currently held by former league member Temple which had 74 before departing for the Big East.
