AMHERST, Mass. - UMass women's lacrosse junior attack Sam Rush was named the UMass Athlete of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal in overtime just before time expired against Albany last Friday. Rush will be honored on Wednesday at the UMass Weekly Sports Luncheon held in the Mullins Center Massachusetts Room which starts at Noon.

Rush scored the game-winning goal in overtime just before the final buzzer sounded. Her third goal of the day crossed the goal line just milliseconds before the horn blew to end the period giving UMass a 9-8 win over Albany at McGuirk Stadium. The goal marked her second game-winner of the season and her 6th straight game with 3-or-more-goals.

The native of West Babylon, N.Y., leads the Minutewomen in goals this season with 21 through seven games and is UMass' second-leading point producer with 23. She ranks 11th nationally in overall goals.

The speakers for this week's luncheon (Wednesday 3/13) are:
Men's Lacrosse Coach Greg Cannella
Jill Isabelle - Asst. Director for Fitness & Wellness with Campus Recreation
Dr. Pierre Rouzier - Family Medicine/Sports Medicine & Head Team Physician

Isabelle and Dr. Rouzier will speak about the campus program "Get Moving UMASS".
