AMHERST, Mass. - Behind the strength of six goals from Katieanne Christian, the No. 7 Dartmouth Big Green defeated the University of Massachusetts women's lacrosse team 18-6 on Tuesday afternoon at Garber Field. Junior Kerri Connerty (Nashua, N.H.) led the Minutewomen with five goals.

The teams played tightly for the first nine minutes of action as Christian and Connerty each traded goals.

Dartmouth's Kristen Barry scored an unassisted goal at the 12:32 mark of the game followed by a pair of goals from Sarah Sanborn within the next minute of play.

The Big Green scored seven more goals, three by Christian and two by Annie Leibovitz, before Connerty tallied her second of the game making the half time lead for Dartmouth 11-2.

Dartmouth outshot UMass 25-to-4 in the first half - 37-to-15 for the game - and controlled 13 draws.

Scoring the first six goals of the second half, Dartmouth took firm control of the game. Connerty broke the streak with a goal at the 20:12 mark of the half and another 30 seconds later.

Connerty added her fifth score nearly seven minutes later followed by a score from sophomore Lauren Reid (Portland, Maine) - the first of her career.

With 21 goals on the season, Connerty now leads the Minutewomen offensively. She has now scored 24 points in the last six games and needs only six more goals to surpass her 2004 total.

The Minutewomen return to action on Friday, April 8 when they open their Atlantic 10 schedule against La Salle. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. UMass will then host Saint Joseph's on Sunday at Noon to complete its three-game homestand.
