Ferris Scores Six As No. 17 Women's Lax Wins 20-5 At Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. - Katie Ferris scored six goals and added an assist as the No. 17 UMass women's lacrosse team won its fifth consecutive game 20-5 at Holy Cross on Wednesday afternoon. The Minutewomen closed out their non-conference schedule with a 8-2 record and will begin Atlantic 10 play next Saturday at La Salle.
With her seven point day, Ferris now needs just four points and two goals to move into third all-time at UMass. She now has 211 career points and 143 career goals.
Along with Ferris, Sam Rush and Lauren Terracciano each added three goals with Terracciano also posting an assist. 10 different players posted goals in the game. Rachel Vallarelli made two saves and allowed four goals in 35 minutes of play to earn the win. Jamie Schiloski played 25 minutes with two saves, while allowing just one goal.
Taylor Zebrowski scored a pair of goals to lead Holy Cross (4-6), while Laura Ryan, Kat Sutton and Sara Hennessey each had one goal. Sarah Weber took the loss in goal making 12 saves, but allowing all 20 goals.
UMass led 8-3 at halftime after starting the game on a three-goal run.
The second half saw the Minutewomen put together a six goal run over a five minute span with Courtney McGrath's free position goal giving UMass a 16-4 lead at the 19:48 mark.
UMass closed the game with a four goal run to give the final score.
The Minutewomen dominated the games in total offense with a 50-to-15 shot advantage and won 19-of-27 draw controls. UMass also forced the Crusaders into 21 turnovers thanks in part to a strong transition defense with Holy Cross converting just 11-of-19 clears.
