AMHERST, Mass. -- Connecticut freshman, Allison Tyminski, scored with 3:34 left in the game to lift UConn over the Massachusetts women's lacrosse team, 8-7, on Friday afternoon at Richard F. Garber Field. The loss drops UMass to 1-1 on the season.

The Minutewomen and the Huskies were tied at 4-4 at the half, with UMass tallying two first half goals from sophomore Maura McGarrity (Chester Springs, Pa.) and one each from senior Lydia Robinson (Summit, N.J.) and junior Tracey Drown (Nashua, N.H.).

UMass broke the tie 4:07 into the second half when Drown posted her second goal of the game to push the Minutewomen ahead, 5-4. The Huskies came back to even the game when Tammy Michel scored at the 7:20 mark. Massachusetts and UConn traded goals for much of the second half, making the score 7-7 with less than eight minutes to play in the game. Junior Hope Zelinger (Ellicott City, Md.) tallied both of the Minutewomen's goals down the stretch.

The Huskies broke the tie when Tyminski scored the game-winning goal with 3:34 left in the game.

UMass will next compete on March 8 when they travel to Harvard for a 1:00 p.m. game.
