It was a tale of two halves on Sunday afternoon at Jack Barry Field in Cambridge. After Boston University scored two goals and controlled the first half, UMass dominated the second half, scoring once, but was unable to get the equalizer as the Minutewomen (1-3) fell to the Terriers (4-0), 2-1. Senior Duo Leads Field Hockey Over Northeastern, 2-1

Goals by senior captains Katie Kelly and Jaime Bourazeris erased a 1-0 deficit and led UMass field hockey (1-2) to its first victory of the season, 2-1 over Northeastern (0-3) on Friday afternoon at Sweeney Field in Boston. Kelly scored her second goal of the season in the 18th minute and Bourazeris added the game-winner with 14:31 remaining. MORE

Field Hockey Plays Two In Boston This Weekend

The UMass field hockey team (0-2) travels east for two games in the Boston area this weekend. On Friday, the Minutewomen face Northeastern at 2 p.m., and on Sunday, they take on Boston University at 1 p.m. UMass is looking to break into the win column after two one-goal losses to ranked teams last weekend. Sports Luncheons Start Wednesday At 12:15 p.m.

The first UMass Spots Luncheon of the 2010-11 year takes place this Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. The event will be held at the Campus Center's Amherst Room 1009. Call 413-545-4290 to reserve your spot. This week's guest speakers are football coach Kevin Morris, women's soccer coach Ed Matz and field hockey coach Justine Sowry. The luncheons run from 12:15 p.m., to 1:15 p.m., and are $11 per person with a salad-to-dessert buffet. Enjoy great food... MORE

Field Hockey Comeback Falls Short To Indiana, 2-1

After falling behind, 2-0, early in the second half, Katie Kelly scored with 12:49 left and UMass (0-2) pressured down the stretch, but was unable to come up with the equalizer in a 2-1 loss to No. 17 Indiana (1-1) on Sunday afternoon at Garber Field. Brooke Borneman and Brenna Moeljadi scored for the Hoosiers, while Jaime Bourazeris assisted on Kelly's goal. MORE

Penalty Stroke Lifts BC Over UMass In Opener, 1-0

After battling to a scoreless tie through the first 65 minutes of action, Emily Kozniuk scored off a penalty stroke to give No. 9 Boston College a 1-0 victory over UMass in the season-opener for both sides on Friday afternoon at Garber Field. The UMass Invitational continues on Saturday when the Eagles take on No. 17 Indiana at 2 p.m. and concludes on Sunday with the Minutewomen and Hoosiers squaring off at 2 p.m. MORE
