Tagliente Chosen As Northeast Region Coach Of The Year

CHANDLER, Ariz. - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced Carla Tagliente as its Division I Northeast Region Coach of the Year on Wednesday afternoon. It is the second consecutive season Tagliente has been honored with a regional coach of the year award from the NFHCA.

In her third year as the program leader, Tagliente coached the Minutewomen to 19 victories - tied for the second most in UMass field hockey history - and their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals since the 2000 season. Tagliente was also named the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 2013 for the second consecutive campaign.

Delaware's Rolf van de Kerkhof (Mid-Atlantic), Connecticut's Nancy Stevens (Mideast), Duke's Pam Bustin (South) and Michigan State's Helen Knull (West) round out the quintet recognized as regional coaches of the year. The 2013 NFHCA Division I Coach of the Year will be announced on Monday, Jan. 6.
