Allymohamed, Lalanne Named UMass Co-Athletes Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Field hockey junior defender Lauren Allymohamed and men's basketball junior center Cady Lalanne were named the co-UMass Athletes of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Allymohamed led the Minutewomen to the Atlantic 10 Tournament Title while Lalanne helped the Minutemen to a season-opening win over Boston College on Sunday.
The luncheon, which is open to the public, will be held from Noon until 1:15 p.m. on the Mullins Center's third floor in the Massachusetts Room. Parking is available directly West of the Mullins Center free of charge and a $13 salad-to-dessert buffet is provided for all attendees to purchase.
Guest speakers will include women's basketball assistant coach Alison Brown, UMass Band Director Tim Anderson and football head coach Charley Molnar or a member of his coaching staff.
Allymohamed provided the game-winning goal in double-overtime as UMass took down VCU, 1-0 in the semifinal round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament on Friday. She followed with stellar defensive play during a 2-1 Minutewomen victory over Richmond in the Atlantic 10 Championship Game the following day.
Lalanne had a career-high 27 points in leading UMass to an 86-73 win over Boston College in the season opener on Sunday. The center from Orlando, Fla., who was 12-for-16 (.750) from the field, added 12 rebounds for his seventh career double-double.
