AMHERST, Mass. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced changes to the 2013 field hockey season schedule on Friday to accommodate Saint Francis (Pa.) joining the league as an affiliate member immediately.

A contest against Saint Francis will occur at the end of the regular season on Nov. 3 in Loretto, Pa. This addition forced a cancellation of the game against Fairfield and led to multiple A-10 season modifications for the Minutewomen.

After heading to Saint Louis on Oct. 12, UMass will play a stretch of four consecutive conference games at home on Garber Field, starting with one against La Salle on Oct. 18 at 3 p.m. The Minutewomen follow with contests against Saint Joseph's on Oct. 20 and Richmond on Oct. 25 before closing out the slate with VCU on Oct. 27.

UMass will now take to the road for a Nov. 1 match-up at Lock Haven after originally being scheduled to face the Lady Eagles to start A-10 play on Oct. 12. The changes will not impact the Atlantic 10 Tournament, which the Minutewomen will host at Garber Field from Nov. 8-9.

UMass opens the 2013 season at the University of Maine Invitational with competition against the host-school on Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. The team's first home game of the year will be against UMass-Lowell on Sept. 3 at 6 p.m., as the River Hawks enter their first year as an NCAA Division-I field hockey program.
