AMHERST, Mass. - UMass head coach Carla Tagliente announced the addition of four incoming freshman to the 2013-14 Minutewomen field hockey signing class on Wednesday morning. Joining the University of Massachusetts for the upcoming season will be Katie Clark (Vienna, Va./Marshall High School), Hailey Cockrum (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson High School), Nicole Miller (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills High School) and Shauna Rankin-Byrne (Lebanon, N.H./Lebanon). The newest members of the UMass field hockey family also include Izzie Delario, who enrolled at the University of Massachusetts for the current spring semester after graduating high school early and will participate in the 2013 campaign as a freshman.

"This is a extremely talented class and I am very excited about what the future holds for UMass field hockey," head coach Carla Tagliente said. "These are five smart hockey players that bring a level of athleticism and competitiveness that will raise the standard of excellence here at UMass. They have all demonstrated tremendous character, resilient work ethic, excellence in the classroom and strong leadership. They all bring their own intangibles to the team that will make everyone around them better, but the one commonality amongst this group that makes them special is their desire to be great. I see it from all of them in the time they commit to the game and the energy and passion that they speak about the game. They will hit the ground running in August and I am excited for them to leave their mark of collegiate field hockey."

Clark competed at the National Futures Championship and led her region is scoring for all midfielders as a senior while Cockrum took home divisional MVP honors to go with all-state and all-county recognition during her final scholastic campaign. Miller won four player of the year honors with Warren Hills High School and tallied a National Club Championship while Rankin-Byrne led Lebanon High School to a state title and participated in the Futures Elite Academy Program with Clark and Miller.
