POTTSTOWN, Pa. -- Jen McGinley scored the only goal of the game with less than two minutes remaining in the first half to give the West Chester University field hockey team (4-11 overall, 1-3 Atlantic 10) a 1-0 win over the University of Massachusetts at Owen J. Roberts Field this afternoon.

McGinley took a pass from Caleen Owens at the 33:12 mark and beat UMass junior goalkeeper Joey Rubin (Yorktown, N.Y.) for the game's only score.

West Chester out-shot UMass, 7-4, and held the edge in penalty corners, 8-4. sophomores Patricia Borneo (Arima, Trinidad & Tobago) and Robin Dziedzic (Palmer, Mass.) each recorded a shot on goal for the Minutewomen. Rubin made four saves for Massachusetts while Carrie Hanshue stopped two shots for West Chester.

The Minutewomen return to action tomorrow at Noon at La Salle.
