LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Junior goalkeeper Christine Tocco (Reading, Mass.) made 10 saves, but the University of Massachusetts field hockey team fell to the University of Louisville, 5-0, this afternoon in non-conference action. The loss drops the Minutewomen to 2-3 on the season, while Louisville improves to 2-2.

The Cardinals wasted no time in getting on the board as Lisa Wasser scored just 2:00 into the contest. Kim Hughes was credited with an assist on the play. Then with less than five minutes remaining in the first half, Jen Payne scored off a feed from Jessica Javelet to put Louisville up 2-0.

The Cardinals scored three more times in the second half and cruised to the victory. Juniors Caitlin Beresin (Acton, Mass.) and Adrianne Monaco (Oxford, N.Y.) recorded the only three shots of the game for Massachusetts as it got out-shot, 18-3. Louisville also held the edge in penalty corners, 10-0.

Tocco made 10 saves in the cage for the Minutewomen while Christy Hershey stopped three shots on the other side.

Massachusetts will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 13, when it plays a 1:00 p.m. game at Boston University.
