Roz Ellis finished her third year with the Minutewomen in 2013, serving as the top assistant to head coach Carla Tagliente. She has helped Tagliente guide the Minutewomen to a pair of Atlantic 10 Titles and NCAA Tournament appearances and 34 victories combined during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Massachusetts had one of its best seasons in program history during 2013 as the squad finished 19-5 overall and 7-0 in Atlantic 10 play. UMass earned a 4-3 come-from-behind victory in overtime against Virginia in the NCAA Tournament to advance to the Elite Eight for the first time since the 2000 season.

During her second season coaching the Minutemen, Ellis had a part in Massachusetts taking home the 2012 Atlantic 10 Championship. The squad secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament following a 2-1 victory over Rider in the NCAA Play-In Game while growth shined throughout all facets of the game. In 2012, UMass tallied 2.96 goals per contest, a +1.4 margin from the 2011 output. The Minutewomen matched their offensive success in the defensive zone, only allowing 1.75 tallies to each opponent on average after giving up 2.06 per game the season before.

In her first year with UMass, Ellis was a key part of helping to bring UMass to the A-10 Semifinals, while posting a 5-1 conference record in Atlantic 10 play in 2011. She holds a Level II coaching certificate and was named 2012 New England Futures Regional Head Coach.

Ellis came to UMass after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Wake Forest during the 2010 season, helping lead the Demon Deacons to the NCAA Tournament. Prior to that, Ellis was an assistant coach at Appalachian State in 2009.

Aside from her duties at Wake Forest and Appalachian State, Ellis coached at numerous camps and clinics, including program held at Wake Forest, Indiana, Northwestern, Iowa, Penn State and Louisville. Ellis was a head coach at the USAFH Regional Rumble in 2007 and has coached the game at the youth level as well.

Prior to coaching, Ellis played at the University of Iowa where she led the Hawkeyes to the 2008 NCAA Final Four. Ellis totaled 15 points on four goals and seven assists during her senior season and was named All-Big Ten First Team, NFHCA All-West Region First Team and NFHCA Second-Team All-America. Ellis was a member of the NCAA All-Tournament Team as well.

The University of Iowa graduate was named to the Big Ten All-Academic and Big Ten Championship teams on three occasions each and tallied a pair of Big Ten First-Team All-Conference nods.

From 2006-2011, Ellis participated in the U.S. Field Hockey Women's National Championship Tournament and helped capture the title with her HPC regional team (New Jersey) in 2011.

The Lewisburg, Pa. native graduated from Iowa in 2009 with a degree in English.
