DeMarco Joins Women's Basketball Coaching Staff

Cecelia DeMarco, who has led women's basketball programs at New Hampshire, Yale and MIT, has been named an assistant coach at UMass, women's basketball head coach Marnie Dacko announced on Thursday. DeMarco brings a wealth of knowledge to the Minutewomen basketball staff, including more than 20 years of experience coaching at the collegiate level. MORE

A-10 Holds Women's Basketball Media Day

UMass head coach Marnie Dacko spoke about the upcoming 2009-10 season as a part of the Atlantic 10 women's basketball media day video teleconference on Wednesday. The Atlantic 10 preseason poll and Preseason All-Conference teams were announced, as well, with the Minutewomen being tabbed 11th in the poll and Xavier selected as the preseason favorite. UMass Participates In National Walk To School Day

Student-athletes from the UMass athletic department took part in National Walk To School Day on Wednesday in Amherst. Members of the basketball, soccer, baseball, hockey, softball and football teams and more took part in the event which took place at Wildwood Elementary School in Amherst. UMass' Tatham Helps Canada Qualify For 2010 FIBA Worlds

Former UMass women's basketball standout Tamara Tatham competed for her country at the FIBA Americas Championship and recently helped Team Canada qualify for the 2010 FIBA World Championship. Canada won bronze at the tournament, held in Cuiabá, Brazil, Sept. 23-27, after defeating Cuba, 59-49. MORE

UMass Teams To Participate In Friends of Jaclyn Race October 4

Several UMass teams will be participating in the Second Annual Friends of Jaclyn Walk/Race on October 4 at Amherst College. UMass Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Field Hockey, and Women's Basketball will all be taking part in the event. The UMass Softball has recently gotten involved in the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.
