AMHERST, Mass. -- University of Massachusetts women's basketball head coach Marnie Dacko has announced the hiring of Karleena Tobin as the Director of Operations. Tobin, a 2006 graduate of the University of Delaware, spent last season as the American University Women's Basketball Graduate Manager. Tobin will be in charge of all team travel, film exchange and on campus recruiting as well as being a mentor to the players this season.

"I am very excited to have Karleena join our UMass basketball staff," said Dacko. "She comes highly recommended by both head coaches from Delaware (where she played her college ball) and American (where she was a graduate assistant). Her combined experiences at these two programs gives her a solid coaching base. Karleena brings a great deal of energy and enthusiasm to this team and will have a positive impact on our players."

As a guard with Delaware, Tobin helped the Blue Hens to three 20-plus win seasons and three Women's National Invitational Tournament bids. Under head coach Tina Martin, Tobin's Delaware squads went 88-33 overall, capturing the Colonial Athletic Associations's regular season championship twice. Tobin and Blue Hens twice finished as runners up in the CAA Championship. In her senior season, Tobin was given the Delaware Sportsmanship Award, which honors a student-athlete who has been outstanding role model and displayed outstanding sportsmanship toward their teammates, coaches, opponents and game officials.

At American last season. Tobin was in charge of all team travel, equipment, the monthly newsletter, community services events and film exchange. She also helped with on campus recruiting efforts and helped lead the Eagles to the Patriot League championship game.
