UMass Profile: Jasmine Watson
Aug. 31, 2009
Last year, she was a member of the No. 2 high school team in the nation at South Bend Washington. Now, as a freshman, Jasmine Watson is determined to carry that success over to the college game as a member of the Minutewomen. She describes herself as "not the average 6-2 person" that will "outwork anybody on the court" and her statistics definitely back up her claim. As a senior at South Bend Washington, she helped lead her squad to a 26-1 record by averaging 11.5 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. Watson may have earned an All-State High Honorable Mention nod from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association and a second team Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association recognition, but her talents reach far beyond the basketball court. When she's not in the gym shooting hoops, Watson enjoys singing and playing piano. Watch Jasmine's interview to learn more about her, including why she chose to become a Minutewoman what she's most looking forward to about her freshman season at UMass.
