BRONX, N.Y. - Coming off a fourth place finish in the Atlantic 10 Championship two weeks ago the Minutemen will compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on Friday in Bronx, N.Y. at 11:45 AM. This will be the team's second to final meet of the season with the IC4A Championship next week.
At the Atlantic 10 Championship the Minutemen entered the competition as an underdog. The team placed fourth in the conference after being predicted to finish eighth by the conference in the preseason. Antony Taylor and Ben Groleau who spent the majority of the race in the top five runners led UMass.
The duo eventually finished 10th and 13th overall claiming All-Conference honors. This was Taylors second consecutive year earning the honor while this was Groleau's first time finishing in the top 15. The next three in the scoring five was Blake Croteau, Benjamin Thomas and Miles Hodge.
The young squad will face stiff competition in New York on Friday and depending on their finish, the team could qualify for the NCAA Championship. If the team falls short they will compete in the IC4A Championship back in the Bronx.
