AMHERST, Mass. - The men's cross country team will kick off the festivities at Totman Field on Saturday when they run the first race of the day at 11:30 A.M. in the UMass Invite. The Minutemen plan to host Maine, Vermont, and Amherst College as well as northeast powerhouses UConn and Boston College.

Ken O'Brien enters the 2013 season with 18-of-23 of his athletes being sophomores or freshman. The Minutemen are led by 2012 All-Conference runner Antony Taylor. Taylor enters his redshirt junior season and will likely lead the way again this season as one-of-four of the team's top returners from 2012. With three spots open Coach O'Brien expects his young squad to step up.

The Minutemen will also run on a new and improved course on Saturday. The UMass Amherst Agricultural Learning Center and Renaissance Center, according to Coaches Ken O'Brien and Julie LaFreniere have displayed "outstanding cooperation" with the teams in order to preserve a "spectacular course in recent years and make it even better."
