Men Finish Middle Of The Pack At IC4A Championships

BRONX, N.Y. - UMass finished up the 2012 cross country season on Saturday afternoon in Bronx, N.Y. The squad placed eighth of a total of 16 teams and was led by freshman Daniel Sheldon. Sheldon finished 21st overall out of 171 harriers and crossed the finish line at 26:48.6. This the freshman's first time finishing in the top spot for the Minutemen and has now finished top five in five of the seven races in which he's raced.

Soon crossing the finish line behind Sheldon at 27:04.4 was junior Jared Reddy. Reddy finished second for the Minutemen and 32nd overall. This was the junior's third top two performance of the season. In third for UMass was Benjamin Thomas. The freshman had his first top four performance of his collegiate career finishing third. Thomas finished at 27:07.6 and was 36th overall.

In fourth for the Minutemen was Zach Florence at 27:10.9. Florence finished 38th overall and this was his third top four performance of the season. In 44th place overall, Miles Hodge placed fifth for UMass. Hodge finished the race at 27:21.8, a time good enough for his best team finish of his freshman season.

Finishing in sixth with a time of 27:47.6 was Quentin Stipp. Stipp placed 65th overall and was immediately followed by teammate Paul Merriman in 66th place. Merriman finished seventh for UMass at 27:50.1. Also finishing the race for the Minutemen were Jake LeBlanc, Khampasong Haleudeth, Sam Burke and Nick Patterson.
