Cross Country Competes at Atlantic 10 Championship

Philadelphia, P.a.- The University of Massachusetts men's and women's cross country teams finished seventh and eighth, respectively, at the Atlantic 10 Championship meet in Philadelphia, P.A. Saturday, Nov. 1.
The women's race was won by the University of Richmond. The top UMass finisher was senior Kate Markopoulos (Porter Corners, N.Y.) whose time of 19:32.1 placed her 11th. Rounding out the top three Minutewomen were freshman Cuisle Kierans (Newbury, Mass.) who finished in 36th-place, clocking a time of 19:56.2 and junior Alexis Anzelone (Westfield, N.J.) whose time of 20:08.8 was good enough for a 44th-place finish. The Minutewomen had four finishers in the top 50 in a field of 115 competitors.
The men's race was won by LaSalle, their third consecutive A-10 crown. The top three UMass finishers were sophomore Ryan Corbett (East Longmeadow, Mass.) who placed 29th with a time of 26:46.7, junior Andrew McCarron (Lunenberg, Mass.) who posted a time of 26:54.0 for a 36th-place finish, and freshman Aaron Strellner (Highland Park, Ill.) whose time of 27:10.1 was good for a 45th-place finish. The Minutemen had five finishers in the top 50 in a field of 109 competitors.
UMass will be in action next on Saturday, November 15, at the NCAA Regional Championship, in Boston, Mass. The race will begin at 11:00 a.m.
