ALBANY, N.Y. - Ryan Corbett finished fifith overall leading the UMass men's cross country team to a fifth-place finish and Christina Derosa finished ninth to lead the women's team to a sixth-place finish as the Minutemen competed in the 38th annual Albany Invitational on Saturday.

Corbett finished the race in 25:23 to lead UMass. This was the fourth consecutive race where he has finished first for the Minutemen.

Anthony Traux of the University of New Hampshire finished first in 24:46 for the individual title, while Syracuse won the overall team title.

Matthew Klypka (33, 26:05), Nils Fischer (40, 26:20), Matthew Clark (46, 26:24), and Paul Noone (48, 26:26) rounded out the Minutemen's top five runners.

DeRosa led the Minutewomen for the fifth consecutive race this season. She finished the 5K course in 18:16 to finish ninth.

For UMass, Alexis Anzelone (19, 18:47), Cuisle Kierans (27, 18:54), Erin O'Donnell (58, 19:30), and Ashley Davidson (64, 19:35) rounded out the top five.

Over 200 student-athletes competed in the women's race, while just over 300 competed in the men's event.

The men's cross country team will return to action next weekend when the Minutemen take part in the Central Connecticut State Blue Devil Mini-Meet. The women's team will take a week off competing next in the Atlantic 10 Championship Meet on Oct. 30.
