Boston - Led by freshman Christina Derosa, the UMass women's cross country team finished 11th among 45 teams on Friday afternoon at the New England Cross Country Championships in Franklin Park. The men's squad finished 21st overall and was led by Ryan Corbett who was 59th individually.

With a time of 18:39, Derosa finished 25th overall - the highest individual finish among either team. This marked the fourth consecutive race for UMass where she was the team's top runner.

Along with Derosa, Alexis Anzelone finished 39th (18:53), Cuisle Kierans finished 86th (19:29), Amanda Dahlberg finished 89th (19:31), and Kara Gillette finished 129th (19:53) to round out the Minutewomen's top five runners.

Tricia Silva (139, 20:00) and Ashley Davidson (243, 21:20) also competed for UMass.

In men's action, Corbett finished 59th with a time of 26:01 leading the men's team to a 21st finish overall among 48 teams.

Matthew Clark (114, 26:48), Matthew Klypka (115, 26:49), Sean Corbett (129, 27:00) and Nils Fisher (144, 27:14) joined Corbett in the scoring column.

Ryan Durkin (159, 27:25) and Andrew McCarron (163, 27:27) also ran for the Minutemen.

Martin Fagan (24:20) of Providence was the overall individual champion in the men's race leading the Friars to a first place finish. On the women's side, Lindsey Scherf (17:22) of Harvard was the individual champion, while Boston University took home the team title. Over 300 student-athletes competed in each race.
