BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After a win two weeks ago at home, the UMass men's cross country team had an impressive showing by taking 8th overall place at the historic Paul Short Invitational. The Minutemen earned 295 points, good enough to beat 35 of 42 teams at the meet. The Minutemen faced tough competition as Indiana University took first place, followed by Iona College in second, and North Carolina State in third.

Senior Jonathan Pierce was the top finisher for UMass, completing the 8k in 24:27 to place 37th out of 386 runners.

Junior Kevin Johnson followed Pierce by taking 42nd place with a time of 24:30, while Sean Duncan came in 55th finishing with a time of 24:39.

Rounding out the race for the Minutemen was senior Andrew McCann who came in 72nd with a time of 24:45, and sophomore Daniel Barry in 89th with a time of 24:52.

UMass will be back in action next Saturday, Oct. 10, when the squad will travel to Boston, Mass. for the New England Championships. The meet is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
