Taylor Gives Men's Cross A Boost In Boston

BOSTON, Mass. - UMass gained a boost on Friday when their 2012 All-Conference harrier returned to the course. The Minutemen placed eighth in the competition in a field of 13, racing against top teams in Oregon, Syracuse, Providence and Wisconsin. The tope seven once again included all underclassmen, minus their top finisher Antony Taylor.
Antony Taylor cruised to a first place finish for UMass, placing 33rd overall in 25-minutes, 14-seconds. He was trailed by Benjamin Thomas in 46th place overall at 25-minutes, 36-seconds. Coming in third and fourth for UMass was the season opener's top duo consisting of Blake Croteau and Daniel Sheldon. Croteau clocked in at 25-minutes, 41-seconds for 51st place with Sheldon just behind him at 25-minutes, 52-seconds in 56th place.
Benjamin Groleau placed 58th in the race coming in fifth for UMass, crossing the finish line at 25-minutes, 54-seconds. It then took 25-minutes and 58-seconds for Quentin Stipp to cross the finish in 60th place alongside Morgan Marlow in 61st. The freshman completed the course in 26-minutes, 3-seconds.
UMass will now travel down to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Paul Short Invitational. The annually highly competitive race is set to start at 10:00 A.M.
