Men's Cross Country First, Women Second At Syracuse Orange Classic

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Sophomore Ryan Corbett finished third overall leading the Massachusett's men's cross country team to the Syracuse Orange Classic team title, while freshman Christina DeRosa finished second overall leading the women's team to a second-place finish.
The men's team won the overall meet with a combined low-score of 29 points, followed by Syracuse (31), Siena (79), Canisius (127), and Niagara (128). Syracuse won the women's race with 30 points, followed by UMass (34), Siena (90), Niagara (116), and Canisius (120).
Corbett completed the men's 8K course in 26:57.10, just behind David Wishart and Chris Muldoon of Syracuse who finished first and second, respectively.
The Minutemen had six runners place in the top-10 for the meet along with Corbett: Nils Fischer (5th, 27:26.64), Matthew Klypka (6th, 27:36.71), Andrew McCarron (7th, 27:45.32), Matthew Clark (8th, 27:46.40), and Paul Noone (9th, 27:50.07).
On the women's side, DeRosa completed the 5K course in 19:33.14 behind Liz Cufari of Syracuse who won the meet in 18:58.03.
Cuisle Kierans (5th, 20:15.16), Amanda Dahlberg (7th, 20:23.39), and Alexis Anzelone (8th, 20:32.79) finished in the top-10 for UMass.
Both teams will return to action on Oct. 8th when they compete in the New England Championships.
