The men were led by Daniel Sheldon and finished eight of 16 in the IC4A Championships on Saturday afternoon in Bronx, N.Y.
Coach O'Brien will finish the 2012 season bringing 11 of his younger athletes to the IC4A Championships on Saturday, November 17.
Freshman Benjamin Groleau finished first for the Minutemen and 47th overall out of 261 total runners in the New England Championships.
Head Coach Ken O'Brien, Assistant Coaches David Jackson and Darcy Wilson had perhaps the busiest summer of all and have brought in 26 freshman this season between both track and field and cross country.
As a freshman in 2012: Placed fifth on the team and 44th overall at the IC4A Championships with a time of 27:21.8 (11/17) ... Crossed the finish line at 26:26.3 and finished seventh for the team while placing 19th overall in the Brown Invitational (10/19) ... Placed sixth for UMass with a time of 26:30.24 at the New England Championships (10/7) ... Came in 13th for the Minutemen, crossing the finish line at 25:47.86 in the Minuteman Invitational (9/15) ... Placed eighth on the team and 11th overall at the UMass Invitational with a time of 19:21.25 (9/8).
Before UMass: Placed Fifth in the 2011 Catholic Memorial XC Meet in 16:28, and Fourth in Division I Central Masssachusetts District XC Meet ... Finished 24th as a senior in the Massachusetts All-State Cross Country Championships.
