Following a brilliant career as a distance runner for the Minutemen, Jon Korhonen joins the coaching staff as an assistant coach beginning with the 2007 cross country season. Korhonen also works for the admissions department at UMass - a position he has held since graduation.

2004-05: Named ESPN The Magazine District I Track/Cross Country Academic All-American ... honored as the UMass Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year ... selected to the A-10 Academic All-Conference team for both indoor and outdoor track ... earned UMass Spring and Winter Scholar-Athlete accolades ... won the New England Indoor Championship mile with his time of 4:08.58 ... earned Second-Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in the indoor mile as well taking second (4:14.15) at the A-10 Indoor Championships (2/19) ... won the 1,500 meters (4:01.05) at the New Hampshire Invitational (1/22) ... also won the indoor 3,000 meters (8:24.06) at the Rhode Island Mega-Meet (2/5) ... during the outdoor season, finished fifth in the 1,500 meters (4:06.43) at the Atlantic 10 Championships (5/8) ... ran his top time of the season in the 1,500 meters (3:54.31) at the New Hampshire Invitational (4/9).

2002-03: Led UMass in the 1,500 meters with a personal best 3:54.36 at the A-10 Championships where he placed fifth overall ... ranked second on the team in the 5,000 meters ... named to A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
2001-02: Placed fifth in the 5,000-meter run at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships (15:06.45) and 11th in the same event at the New England Championships (15:18.11) ... his 5,000-meter time at the A-10 meet was the best record by a Minuteman in 2002, while his 1,500 meter time of 4:01.14 at the Wildcat (N.H.) Invitational ranked as the team's fourth-best mark ... did not compete during the indoor season ... named to Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, as well as the UMass Athletic Director's Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters ...
