Track - 2/4/2010 Men's Track and Field Head South for Giegengack InvitationalThe UMass men's indoor track and field team is prepared to travel to New Haven, Conn. this Friday and Saturday for the Giegengack Invitational. The Minutemen will visit the southern neighbor of Massachusetts for the first time this season. Coming off a fourth place finish at last week's Reebok Boston Indoor Games, the Minutemen will look to add qualifiers for both the New England and IC4A Championship meets to be competed in later this season. The meet which was held in Roxbury, Mass. consisted of eighteen teams, which is the most that the Minutemen have faced in a single meet thus far this season. Track - 1/23/2010 Behind Velez's Performance In The 55m, Minutemen Take Third at URI InvitationalThe UMass men's indoor track and field team captured third place overall at Saturday's URI Invitational. Darius Velez added his name to the UMass record book by winning the 55 meter dash in 6.39. Senior Daniel Barry also added to the qualifiers from last week's BU Quad meet by qualifying for both the New England and IC4A Championships in the mile run. Barry finished with a time of 4:14.46, good enough for first place. MORE |
