On Saturday, April 5 the University of Massachusetts Men's Track and Field team will compete in Springfield, Mass., in the AIC Invitational. The Minutemen will travel the majority of their outdoor roster in their outdoor season opener. Tomorrow's meet is set to begin at 10:30 AM at the John G. Hoyt '52 Track & Field Complex.
What To Look Forward To This Outdoor Season
The men's track and field team has become known as a team on the rise in the Atlantic 10 and in New England. The Minutemen are coming off of a strong indoor season in which they finished sixth in the Atlantic 10 and 10 in the New England Championship.
In the 2014 indoor championship season the Minutemen fought for four All-Conference performers and one All-New England performance.
Fans will have plenty of opportunity to watch the Minutemen compete this season with five meets within an hour and 30 minutes of campus.
The Minutemen will compete at the UMass Track and Field Complex in two meets this season. UMass will host the Minuteman Invitational and the Atlantic 10 Championship.
Senior day is set for the Minuteman Invitational on April 12 at 11:30 AM.
Atlantic 10 Championship weekend is scheduled for May 3 and 4 with start times of 9:00 AM.
2014 Indoor Season Highlights
New England Championship
Zack Hildenbrandt grabbed his first All-New England performance with a silver medal in the 500 meter dash.
Atlantic 10 Championship
Stephen Bigelow claimed the first medal of his collegiate career with a silver medal in the 60 meter hurdles
Antony Taylor ran for a third place finish in the 3,000 meter run.
Ben Groleau was the bronze medalist in the mile run.
Taylor, Groleau, Pat Farnham and Stephen Ness combined for a time good enough to earn the bronze medal in the distance medley relay.
