Busch Named A-10 Student-Athlete Of The Year

NEWPORT NEWS, V.A. - Senior Sean Busch continued to rake in the accolades on Friday afternoon as the Stow, Mass. native was tabbed the Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year for the indoor track and field season. The award comes following a 2011 A-10 Title in the pole vault, brought home by Busch on February 18th.

Continually throughout the season, Busch has continued to prove why he possesses so many accolades on his belt. In 2011 alone, he has tied the school indoor pole vault record twice, at the A-10 Championships (2/18) and at the Giegengack Invitational (2/4). The school best mark of 15-9, helped the senior to qualify for both the New England and IC4A Championships this season.

In the classroom, Busch posts an impressive 3.7 grade point average as an Electrical Engineering major. Joining him on the Academic All-Conference team are teammates Daniel Barry and Daniel Wu.

Barry was a New England and IC4A Championship qualifier in both the mile run and 3000 meter run this season, along with helping the A-10 Title effort of the distance medley relay team. The quad set a time of 10:00.99 at the A-10 Meet, which broke the record for the Meet, previously held by Charlotte. Barry posts a 3.62 GPA as a Finance and Operations Management major.

Wu has also been a standout performer for the Minutemen through the indoor season in the long and triple jump. In the former t, the junior Finance major, has qualified for the New England and IC4A Meets, while Wu holds the top team season mark in the latter of the two events. Wu boasts a 3.8 GPA as a Finance major.

The Minutemen return to action tomorrow as the team travels to the heavily anticipated IC4A Championships, being hosted at Boston University.
